TF101 Marshmallow 6.0.1 ROM Update - KatKiss Marshmallow by XDA Timduru Version 25

I haven't been around for testing ROMs on the TF101, since I thought it has had its best times. I long for the shiny bright high-performance-times with Timdurus KatKiss 4.4.4 ROM for the Transformer. While Timduru kept the TF101 "alive" and up to date, the performance dropped and the tablet got less responsive. Recently I had been on KatKiss 30c for a while, since I didn't want to see the performance drop even more on the Marshmallow 6 / 6.0.1 ROM. But now I did it. Here is waht the new KatKiss Marshmallow 6.0.1 from XDA Timduru does to your beloved ASUS Transformer TF 101.

First I grabbed the new Android Marshmallow 6 ROM for your TF101. I fount it at XDA Developers thread. Downloaded the KatKiss 6.0.1 ROM (version 25) and the pico version of the gApps for this Android Marshmallow 6 ROM. Finally I grabbed the KAT-App and SuperSu. All ready. Set, Go? Not yet. Before I installed the Marshmallow version, I ran some benchmarks to see the diffrence in numbers afterwards. Done so, I booted in recovery an followed the standard steps:

Timduru advices this:

These builds are designed to be installed with a recent recovery.
TWRP 2.8.1 is recommended: available here
Older versions of TWRP like 2.3.x won't work.

  • Backup everything !
  • Go to recovery

  • The first time you install: Format /data (full wipe doesn't format)
(you can skip this step if you're already on the same main version of KatKiss, if ever you encounter a problem redo a full clean install and format /data and try again before reporting )

    Then *EVERYTIME* flash (all together):
  • rom zip
  • SuperSU zip
  • gapps zip
  • Wipe cache/dalvik
  • Reboot
So that's actually exactly what I do. And once again: it worked. So what's new? Let's see what Tim says:

=04/08/16 - V025 =
- Update to April Marshmallow release
- MultiWindow: add logic to swap 2 latest apps position/size
- MultiWindow: allow to swap a previous fullscreen app to the new location too
- MultiWindow: give previous app the new focus after swapping
- NavBar: fix Button LongPress action being sent twice
- NavBar "switch to previous app" Button: default LongPress action to swap apps positions
(if you have already set a custom longpress action on that button, you need to clear it first or set the swap action)
- Settings: add Global Action to swap 2 latest apps position/size (available for Longpress and Dock Key override)
=04/01/16 - V024 =
- MultiWindow: rewrite split screen logic
- MultiWindow: add navbar splitview icons
- MultiWindow: add 3 panes and 4 panes logic
- MultiWindow: handle multipanes placement and icons based on screen rotation
- NavBar: add Balanced Buttons alignment mode (PixelC like + MW buttons centered) (Settings => User Interface => Interface Mode)
- NavBar: default to Balanced buttons mode
- Settings: add option to hide navbar MultiWindow icons (Settings => User Interface => Multiwindow)
- Settings: add splitview actions in global actions list (available for Longpress and Dock Key override)
- Settings: prevent crashing when being resized

AHA! :) Well that should help with the last two versions. But what's diffrent between KatKiss Lollipop 5.0.1 vs KatKiss Marshmallow 6.0.1? Stay tuned. I will add some impressions an benchmark results later.

    1. Copy the 2.8 zip to the internal storage/sd card and install it from the 2.3 installer.

  2. This is great android rom, yet i can't get the playstore to work correctly like it did in cm 10-10.1. Hopefully there will be a fix for it eventually. I have tried all of the stratigies fr fixing the problems like clearing cache, uninstalling updates, and remoing the sd card, but it dosn't like to work at all.

  3. Howdy!

Actually the PlayStore always worked fine for me. You might have a look on other reasons rather. Unfortunatly the KatKiss won't be developed on for TF101 I guess. The Marshmallow 6.0.1 ROM for the ASUS TF101 seems to be the latest. :/
